Itahari: Sagar Kafle, a lecturer of agriculture engineering at Purwanchar Campus of Dharan and also a green researcher, has won Germany's prestigious 'Green Talent' award. He was awarded with other 24 'green talents' from 21 countries.

This award is hosted by The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research to promote the international exchange of innovative green talents, informs the official website. This award was instituted since 2009.

Kafle was selected among 25 awardees from 21 nations out of 726 applicants from 100 plus nations from across the globe.

Kafle was awarded for his innovative research to produce fuel pallets in order to reduce extreme use of coal in brick kilns.

   According to his research, fuel pallets can be made with the use of waste materials of forest-based biomass and agricultural crop residues. This eco-friendly technology will be fruitful to give environment-friendly alternatives to 91% of coal-powered industry.
