Kathmandu, July 3: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is to conduct an examination for the scholarships to be provided by the private schools run within the KMC.

KMC Mayor Balendra Shah said that they would conduct an examination for the scholarships within the limitations of the laws.

The scholarships are to be provided to the students for grade 11 and the KMC is going to conduct the selection examinations in accordance with the provisions in the KMC's Education Act-2075 BS and Education Regulations 2074 BS for this new academic year, informed Sitaram Koirala, Head of the KMC Education Department.

This move is aimed at ensuring impartiality in the distribution of the scholarships. The scholarship would be provided to selected candidates on the principle of inclusiveness and some parameters such as impoverished families, backward zone and indigenous communities among others.

Furthermore, preparation is afoot for the KMC to conduct selection examinations for the scholarships to be distributed to students of grade 1 to grade 10 on its own, informed Koirala.
