Dhankuta- Pradeep Karki, a 40-year-old man from Dhankuta and a permanent resident of Dolakha, has alleged that he was assaulted and humiliated by cadres of the Revolutionary Communist Party who rubbed black soot on his face.
According to Karki, the incident occurred on September 26 in Sijali village of Hille, Dhankuta Municipality-1, while he was working as a contractor for Superior Malika JV Company on the construction of a stadium hall in Hille. The stadium hall is being built at a cost of 35 million rupees by the provincial government.
Karki claimed that he was verbally abused and physically assaulted by a group of party cadres, numbering around a dozen, who accused him of labor exploitation and withholding wage payments. He stated that the assault took place because he refused to provide them with donations.
Mohan Ghale, the District Coordinator of the Revolutionary Communist Party, took responsibility for the incident and stated that the laborers had assaulted Karki as a warning due to his alleged exploitation and mistreatment of workers by not paying their wages.
However, DSP Home Prasad Adhikari of the district police office mentioned that, according to the information received, Karki was only threatened, and there was no information or complaint about the cadres rubbing soot on his face. The police have initiated an investigation into the incident, even though Karki, the victim, has not filed a formal complaint with the police
