Narayangadh (Chitwan), June 14: Minister for Health and Population, Pradeep Yadav, has said Bharatpur-based BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital has been providing treatment services utilizing its means, resources, capacity and technology at maximum.
Inspecting the hospital today, Minister Yadav shared that the hospital should provide better services to patients from across the country coming to the hospital for treatment.
"Cancer patients across the country visit the hospital for treatment. I have not heard that the hospital has discriminated against the patients (from within the Chitwan district and other parts of the country)," he said.
Explaining that discussion was held with the Prime Minister on the issues of increasing capacity of hospital to 1,000 beds and increasing human resources, the Health Minister said that the Prime Minister was positive towards it.
On a separate note, the Health Minister argued that the tax levied on tobacco products belonged to the Ministry of Health and the Cancer Hospital.
On the occasion, Executive Director of the hospital, Dr Shivaji Poudel, briefed the Health Minister about hospital's introduction, objectives, services and number of patients visiting the hospital.
After the inspection, Minister Yadav also met with the visitors of the patients.(RSS)
